Guide Training Program (6 Days)

17th - 22nd September, 2017

For complete beginners, this six day program will give you the skills you need to confidently guide a raft on rivers around the world. We'll look at reading the river, rescue strategies, and techniques for getting your raft safely through the rapids. You'll also get the opportunity to work alongside experienced guides, take part in scenarios, and spend six days on some of the best whitewater in the UK.

Guide Assessment (1 Day)

20th September, 2017

If you've already done your training, have built up the hours in your logbook, and are ready to take the next step, then this one day assessment course is for you. We will be assessing both Grade 3 and Grade 4/5 candidates, and existing raft guides who wish to transfer to the IRF system are also welcome.

Trip Leader Assessment (2 Days)

20th - 21st September, 2017

For experienced raft guides, with impressive logbooks, we will be running a two day trip leader assessment. Your leadership skills will be put to the test with a series of scenarios, and we'll be awarding both TL 3 and TL 4 qualifications. Again, experienced raft guides, not yet in the IRF system, are welcome to attend this part of the course.

Instructor assessment (6 Days)

17th - 22nd September, 2017

Experienced Trip Leaders, who wish to pass on their accumulated knowledge to the next generation of raft guides, are welcome to come and take part in the delivery of the course. Assessment tasks will be presented during the six days, and there will be the opportunity to discuss best practice and the future direction of the industry with the regional Assessor for the IRF. Non-IRF qualified providers who wish to transfer to the system are also welcome.
